What is occupational therapy? What about lifestyle occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy is an allied health profession that supports individuals with participation in activities that are purposeful and meaningful to them. Occupational therapists empower individuals to problem solve barriers that are impacting their ability to engage in life to the fullest.
Lifestyle occupational therapy focuses on supporting individuals in creating meaningful routines that positively impact well-being. It supports individuals in making lifestyle choices and enabling sustainable changes to optimize health and engagement in life activities and roles.
Do you work with children?
At this time, I primarily work with adults. If your goal is to work on family nervous system regulation, I can provide parents with strategies to implement for themselves and within the family structure.
Note: Sensory assessments are available for adults and adolescents. I will also consider working with adolescents for treatment/support on a case-by-case basis.
Are OT services covered under extended medical benefits or health savings accounts (HSA)?
It depends on your plan and provider. Please check with your benefits provider regarding occupational therapy coverage prior to commencing services. If you do not have coverage, I am happy to provide a tax statement at the end of year for medical deduction purposes.
Do you direct bill to extended health benefits?
No, I do not direct bill insurance providers. I will gladly provide a receipt of services that can be submitted to your extended benefits plan (if you have OT coverage).
